The School Year Is Over
From the book A Festival for Frogs
The school year is over.
The summer is here.
At last it’s my favorite
time of the year.
The summer’s a season
no others can match.
I’ll go to the park
to play Frisbee and catch.
I’ll get to play daily
outside in the sun.
I’ll roll on the lawn
or I’ll go for a run.
I’ll jump in the pool
to cool off from the heat.
Whenever I’m hungry
I’ll ask for a treat.
It’s all so exciting.
It’s awesome. It’s cool.
I’m glad I’m a dog when
my kid’s home from school.
