My Purple Unicorn
From the book A Festival for Frogs
I have a purple unicorn.
I keep him as a pet.
He has a single purple horn.
He’s had it since we met.
He also has a purple tail.
He has a purple hide.
He’s purple on the front and back
and purple on each side.
He has a purple head and neck.
He has a purple mane.
I’ll bet, inside his purple skull,
he has a purple brain.
I know you think I’m joking;
that this simply can’t be true.
You’re right. That was a lie. In truth…
My unicorn is blue.
