Invisible Monsters
Invisible monsters are nothing
that you should be worried about.
If you ever hear one approaching,
there’s no need panic and shout.
Invisible giants are gentle.
Invisible werewolves are weak.
Invisible vampires are toothless.
Invisible mummies are meek.
Invisible zombies are peaceful.
Invisible ogres are mild.
Invisible witches and warlocks
are not at all wicked or wild.
Invisible monsters can’t hurt you.
They’re always quite harmless somehow.
Except for invisible dragons.
A big one’s behind you right now.

About This Poem
Since it’s now October and Halloween is just a few weeks away, I thought it would be fun to write a monster poem. I wanted it to be funny, just a little bit spooky, but not actually scary. The idea came to me that everyone “knows” monsters aren’t real, but what if that’s just because they’re invisible? I had a lot of fun imagining invisible versions of classic monsters—ones that couldn’t hurt anyone because of their harmlessness. This poem is the result of those ideas, and I hope it gives you a laugh as you get ready for Halloween!
