About This Poem

A while back, the editors at Scholastic Storyworks magazine asked me to write a poem about some kind of mystery. Because I like to give them options, I ended up writing several different mystery poems for them, including a shorter version of this one.

They chose to publish one of the other poems I sent, but I liked this one so much that I decided to expand it. I added a few more stanzas about some of the world’s most famous mysterious creatures—Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, unicorns, and more.

Even though we may never find proof that any of them exist, isn’t it fun to wonder?
