The Children’s Poetry Summit blog post by Attie Lime titled “Finding Your Voice” discusses how important it is to develop your own voice while still reading widely as a poet, and also touches on how performance styles change.
Danna Smith Book Blog
Danna Smith is over the moon! Her board book, “The Welcome Book,” has been chosen as one of Amazon’s Best Books of 2025 (So Far) for the baby to two-year-old age group. Hooray!
David L. Harrison
David L. Harrison has been busy as usual. He shared that he’s planning to use a writing prompt from the new book, Creative Prompts from The Writers Place, which was compiled by Maryfrances Wagner and James Benger. He’s also happy to report that Matt Forrest Esenwine is returning to Poetry from Daily Life, with his second guest column. Also, David shared that his book, Wild Brunch, Poems About How Creatures Eat, has been selected for the North Carolina Children’s Book Program for the 2025-2026 school year, along with Laura Purdie Salas’ Zap! Clap! Boom! and Carole Boston Weatherford’s Whirligigs: The Wondrous Windmills of Vollis Simpson’s Imagination. He also shared the news that Rex Ybañez is this week’s guest on Poetry from Daily Life, and shared a few snapshots from his recent virtual visit with students in Japan. Finally, he wrote a moving post about reading his mother’s memories.

Over at DreamBeast Poems, Mark Bird post discusses “Creative Ways to Introduce Poetry in the Classroom,” and offers some great ideas for teachers.
Imagine the Possibilities
Rose Cappelli at Imagine the Possibilities posted “Poetry Friday: Book Review and More,” reviewing the new children’s book, Where the Deer Slip Through by the late Katey Howes.

In his post, “Darkness, My Old Friend,” Joshua Seigal shares a relatable morning of procrastination and the internal struggle between wanting change and the comfort of the same old routine.

For Poetry Friday, Laura Purdie Salas shared a poem from Molly Beth Griffin‘s new book, Rings of Heartwood, called “Home Improvement.”

Reflections on the Teche
Margaret Simon had a few posts on The Reflections on the Teche blog. First, there’s a Poetry Friday event recap, highlighting a presentation on the life of Dr. Emma Wakefield Paillet, and also mentions a signed copy of the book is available. Next, there’s a post that features a photo of a penguin and invites readers to write poems, especially in the Zeno form. Last, there’s a “Slice of Life” post describing a poem picnic.
