Time again for the Children’s Poetry Blog Post Roundup! Here’s what’s been happening in the world of kids’ poetry over the past week, with a little help from some of my poet and teacher friends.
Children’s Poetry Summit
Andrea Reece from the Children’s Poetry Summit offered a bird’s-eye view of the CLiPPA, highlighting the shortlisted books.
David L. Harrison
David L. Harrison had a busy week! He shared news of Laura Robb returning to Poetry from Daily Life. He also wrote about joining the Cherry Blossom Festival Colonels, and getting ready for the Cherry Blossom Festival. He also shared a poem called “Spring” and noted that Dottie Joslyn was featured on “Poetry from Daily Life”.
DreamBeast Poems
DreamBeast Poems, Mark Bird served up some new poems. They posted “We’re Rolling Again! — A Joyful Summer Poem for Kids”, and “Taught Not To Tell: A Friendship Poem for Kids About Childhood and Prejudice”.
Imagine the Possibilities
Over at Imagine the Possibilities, Rose Cappelli shared “Poetry Friday: More Cheritas”, and also continued in the Kidlit Progressive Poem.
Laura Purdie Salas
Laura Purdie Salas shared a whole bunch of her “skinny poems” for National Poetry Month, including “The Past”, “Sky Blades”, “Guardian”, “Crash”, “Airport”, “Therapy Dog”, and “Puppy Love”.
Linda Kulp Trout
Linda Kulp Trout also contributed to the kidlit progressive poem currently making the rounds.
Live Your Poem
Over at Live Your Poem, Irene Latham reviewed some poetry books, including “Counting Winter,” “How Elegant the Elephant,” and “Words with Wings and Magic Things”, and offered up a new poem about Spring.
Liz Garton Scanlon
Liz Garton Scanlon continued her haiku streak, with Haiku 25, Haiku 24, Haiku 23, Haiku 22, Haiku 21, and Haiku 20. She also wrote a Poetry Project.
Miss Rumphius Effect
Miss Rumphius Effect also had a busy month of poetry! She shared two triolet poems, an anagram poem, an octelle poem, an AI-generated poem, and a vocabularyclept poem.
