It’s time again for our weekly Children’s Poetry Blog Post Roundup, where we gather the latest news, reviews, and musings from the world of children’s verse. Let’s see what’s been happening this past week!
Children’s Author David L. Harrison
David L. Harrison had quite a week, starting off with the announcement of the April 2025 “Word of the Month Poetry Challenge”, using the word “SPRING.” He also headed for a school visit to Rountree Elementary School. He shared that it was Eleven years ago today Springfield City Council declared “David Harrison Day.” This week David also shared On KSMU with Karen Craigo. He shared that Virginia Lowe featured on Poetry from Daily Life. David also reminded us about Randle Chowning featured on Poetry from Daily Life. This week was busy for David, with Off to Central Methodist University. He also shared that 40 Poems for 40 Weeks featured on Children’s Book Corner. He also shared Reminders of 40 Poems for 40 Weeks. David closed the week with Poetry from Daily Life, Free Video Library is up!!! and Kate Cosgrove back from Bologna Book Fair. And lastly he has Nile Stanley returning to Poetry from Daily Life.
Children’s Poetry Summit
The Children’s Poetry Summit featured Sharena Lee Satti: Representation Matters, discussing the importance of diverse voices in children’s poetry. They also shared Billie Manning: Hope and Hairless Hamsters – Engaging Young People with Poetry and the Environment.
Danna Smith Book Blog
Danna Smith shared information on Join Our Spring Book Launch Party This Sunday, April 6, 2025!, as well as Celebrate Milestones with ‘My Book of Firsts’ by Lee Wardlaw and Discover Kelsi’s Favorite Spring Reads on Fox 5 DC. She also created Got Anxiety? I Have a Book for That!
