The school year may be winding down, but there’s still plenty of time to bring something special, and memorable, to your students.
I still have openings over the next few months for online author visits, and this is a wonderful time of year to schedule one.
A Perfect Fit for National Poetry Month
April is National Poetry Month, when many classrooms are already diving into poetry units. Bringing a working poet into your classroom during this time can make those lessons feel more real, more engaging, and more fun.
What I love most about these visits is showing students that writers are real people (not just names in books), and that writing, especially poetry, can be fun, exciting, creative, and enjoyable.
During my programs, I don’t just read poems, I work with students to write a brand-new poem together, using their ideas and words. It’s a simple, interactive process that helps them see just how approachable writing can be.
Flexible and Easy to Schedule
Online visits are easy to arrange and can be scheduled at a time that works best for your school. In many cases, I can even set something up with as little as a week’s notice. I can visit with your students on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or whatever meeting software your school prefers.
Whether you’re planning a National Poetry Month activity, an end-of-year enrichment experience, or just something fun and educational for your students an online author visit can be a great fit.
