Have You Ever Been to England?
This Reading Response worksheet for grades 2–4 invites students to read “Have You Ever Been to England?” and think carefully about what makes the poem funny and imaginative. After reading the poem on the front page, students complete a simple response page that asks them to identify the poem’s title and author, reflect on their favorite part, and rate how much they enjoyed it. To encourage creativity and personal connection, the worksheet also includes a drawing activity where students illustrate their favorite animal dancing, just like the poem’s silly, purple-underwear-wearing dinosaur, and write about their favorite part of the poem. This activity strengthens reading comprehension, reinforces understanding of basic poetry elements, and supports written and artistic expression in a fun, low-pressure format that’s perfect for classroom discussion, literacy centers, or independent work.
