Thanksgiving Leftovers
From the book A Festival for Frogs
We’ve got lots of food left
from Thanksgiving Day,
from dozens of dishes
that filled our buffet.
There’s…
Leftover turkey
and leftover ham.
Leftover cranberries.
Leftover lamb.
Leftover salads
and scalloped potatoes.
Leftover turnips
and trout and tomatoes.
Cornbread and brown bread
and roast beef and peas.
Baked beans and green beans
and one piece of cheese.
We’ve got lots of food left
but please tell me why…
Oh, why don’t we have any
leftover pie?
