I Tried to Play Soccer
From the book A Festival for Frogs
I tried to play soccer.
The ball hit my face.
My nose started bleeding
all over the place.
I tried to play rugby.
I slipped on the field.
I scraped up my elbows.
They still haven’t healed.
I tried to play tennis.
I tripped on the net.
The bump on my head
is the biggest one yet.
I tried to play baseball.
I got a black eye.
I wasn’t quite able
to catch that pop fly.
Our team always loses.
It’s me the coach blames.
So now I stay home and
play video games.
