Helping the Teacher
From the book A Festival for Frogs
Today we helped the teacher
with the things she has to do.
We graded all our homework
and erased the whiteboard too.
To clean and organize her desk,
we dumped out every drawer.
We pushed our chairs out in the hall
to sweep the classroom floor.
We think we might have accidentally
thrown her lunch away,
but it was looking old so that
was probably okay.
While stacking up her books
so we could dust the classroom shelves,
we spilled a box of glue and paint
and glitter on ourselves.
When she returned and saw the room
a tear rolled down her cheek.
Our help made her so happy that
she couldn’t even speak.
