Autumn Is the Time of Year
A Funny Fall Poem for Kids
Autumn is the time of year
when changes start to happen here.
The days grow short. It’s cold outside.
The birds fly south. The squirrels hide.
The leaves fall off of all the trees.
The garden pond begins to freeze.
Another summer’s left behind.
It’s winter soon, but I don’t mind.
For autumn is the time when I
begin to dream of pumpkin pie.

About This Poem
I love summer. I love the warm weather and the relaxing days so much that, sometimes, I begin to dread its end. But even though I don't usually look forward to autumn and winter, there are a few things I do look forward to as summer comes to an end. Every year when the new school year starts and the seasons begin to change, I look forward to the holiday season and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to having fires in the fireplace and decorations around the house. But, most of all, I look forward to the special foods that we only seem to have during the holidays; especially pumpkin pie and eggnog. In fact, food is one of my favorite subjects to write poems about.
